If you want to go hiking somewhere in Japan, try the World Heritage-listed "Kumano Kodo". It is the ancient pilgrimage routes to the three Grand Shrines of Kumano (Wakayama Prefecture). There are many Kumano Kodo in the Kii Peninsula, Honshu's largest peninsula. Every road is filled with a mysterious atmosphere. If you want to visit the most sacred places in Japan, I recommend going to Koyasan in Wakayama Prefecture. Koyasan is a sacred place of Buddhism established 1200 years ago. It is about 2 hours by express train and cable car from Namba in Osaka. You can stay at temple inns called "shukubo". You will be healed in a quiet world. Wakayama Prefecture! Best Attractions and Things to do

Wakayama prefecture has sacred and traditional worlds that do not exist in urban areas such as Osaka and Kyoto. There are many mountains in this prefecture. Places to train such as Buddhism have been established and maintained in those areas. For example, if you go to Koyasan, you will be able to meet a very majestic world in rich nature.
