If you travel to Kyushu Island in Japan, I recommend going to Aso. In Aso, the caldera basin (18 kilometers east to west and 25 kilometers north to south) created by the volcanic eruption spreads, and beautiful mountains are connected around it. The volcano is still active and you can go near it. Please enjoy hot springs such as Beppu and Yufuin in Kyushu someday, and try sightseeing in the magnificent Aso! If you want to see the strongest castle in Japan, I recommend Kumamoto Castle in Kyushu. Kumamoto Castle was heavily damaged by the 2016 Kumamoto earthquakes. The photos on this page were taken before 2016. The castle is currently under restoration. From the spring of 2021, you will finally be able to visit the castle tower. Japan has about 110 active volcanoes, equivalent to 7% of the world. As a result, there are many hot springs. The volcanoes teach us the fear, beauty and appreciation of nature.
