Hitachi Seaside Park : Nemopila, Tulip, Kochia etc.
Hitachi Seaside Park is a state-owned park located about 2 hours north of Tokyo by car. This park is very big. The total area is 350 hectares which is five times bigger than Tokyo Disneyland. Currently, about 200 hectares is used as a park.
There are many vast flower gardens in this park. Although so many kinds of flowers bloom, especially famous are spring nemophila and fall coquia. Approximately 4.5 million Nemophila blue flowers will bloom from late April to mid May. From early October to mid-October, Kokia turns red and the bright red world spreads.
In the park there are sand dunes and forests in addition to flower gardens, there are also large observation cars. You can also enjoy cycling.
"Fuji Shibazakura Festival" is be held from mid April to late May every year using the vast land located on the northern slope of Mt. Fuji. About 800,000 shares of Shibazakura (Moss Phlox) bloom all together, with the beautiful Mt. Fuji in the background. The venue of this festival was previously used as an off-road course. However, Shibazakura is planted there, and it is used as a festival venue in the spring.
Shibazakura at this venue is really beautiful and worth a visit. However, too many tourists come, so the car gets heavily congested from the lake Kawaguchiko to the venue during the period. Since the venue is open from 8 o'clock in the morning, I recommend that you go as early in the morning as possible to avoid being affected by traffic jam.
