You can still do winter sports in Japan

Even in March, the mountains in Hokkaido and Honshu are still in winter condition. For this reason, ski resorts are still open in March. You can enjoy skiing, snowboarding, sledding and so on.

However, in some areas such as Niigata Prefecture, the temperature will gradually rise. During the day you are more likely to get rain than snow so skiing conditions will gradually get worse. If you want to experience authentic winter sports in Japan during March, it may be better to choose a ski resort in Hokkaido.

If you want to go to see the snowy mountainous areas of Main Honshu such as Shirakawago, you'd better arrive in Japan by early March at the latest. In these areas, the snow gradually starts to melt in March. Snow will remain at the top of the mountain until about May, but in villages where people live, it will start to rain instead of snow from the beginning of March.

If you plan to mountain climb in Japan, please do your research well before traveling. Snow gradually starts to melt even in the snowy mountains during March. As a result, big avalanches often happen. Because it is very dangerous, please be really careful.

You can see beautiful flower gardens

In March, various spring flowers start to bloom in turn from Okinawa and Kyushu. If you want to see an impressive flower garden in March, I would recommend the tulip field of Huis Ten Bosch theme park in Kyushu. This theme park reproduces the scenery of the Netherlands in Japan. Speaking of the Netherlands, the park features Dutch flowers like tulips. The sight of the tulips blooming all over Huisten Bosch is very beautiful.

The tulip festival is held from mid-February to mid-April every year at Huisten Bosch. It is best really late in March. If you want to travel Japan in the second half of March, why not add Huisten Bosch to your itinerary?

If you want to see beautiful flower gardens near Tokyo in March, I would recommend the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka prefecture or Chiba prefecture. In Shuzenji of Izu Peninsula, you will be able to see beautiful flowers such as peach and rhododendron.

Recently, the "Isumi Railway" in Chiba Prefecture has been increasing in popularity. The Isumi Railway is a small railroad running north of Chiba Prefecture. Around mid-March, a lot of rape blossoms will bloom along the railroad tracks. If you are staying in Tokyo, please go from Tokyo station by JR Limited Express "Wakashio" to Ohara station. From there you can ride a small train on the Isumi Railway and enjoy rape blossoms from inside the car.

If you really want to see cherry blossoms, you'd better travel after late March. Cherry blossoms start to bloom gradually from Okinawa and Kyushu every year around this time. From the end of March to the beginning of April you can see the cherry blossoms in Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto etc.

It rains well in March so prepare your umbrella

In Japan, rain often falls nationwide. There are also many windy days. The Japanese archipelago changes from winter style to the type found in spring. Because of this transition period, the weather is not stable in March. So when you come to Japan, please do not forget your umbrella.

Generally, the weather is unstable in the early spring of Japan. The cherry blossoms also bloom when the weather is unstable. For this reason, Japanese people think that if warm days continue, "cherry blossoms may bloom soon". Meanwhile, if a cold days continue, "cherry blossoms may not bloom for some time" comes to mind.

In this way we wait for the cherry blossoms to bloom in a state of restlessness. When the cherry
blossoms bloom, that restlessness disappears and everyone is delighted. If you can extend your trip at the end of March, please do postpone your return home and see cherry blossoms in Japan.

I appreciate you reading to the end.
